My name is Melanie Whyte (She/Her) and I love to work with singers!
I am a singing teacher and actor, who specializes in working with musical theatre singers and with singers in all styles who wish to learn health and function for their voices. I trained with a music degree (BMus -UBC) and theatre school (Diploma -FTS in Vancouver) and my teaching has been informed by study of voice work for actors as well as by a pursuit of singing pedagogy. Most recently, I have attended The LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ and have completed all three levels of certification. I continue to take courses with master teacher of teachers Jeanie LoVetri and am excited about this approach to training singers! My quest for learning and my passion for training singers has continued through all of the 30 some years I have been teaching.
I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and am currently the president of the NATS Manitoba Chapter. I also work as an actor and am a member of the Canadian Actors' Equity Association and of ACTRA. I am a member of aace, which is the Association of Acting Coaches and Educators. aace strives to bring accountability and to create safe working environments in our teaching practices. I perform in plays and in musicals in Winnipeg, and sing with the Fu Fu Chi Chi Choir, which is really a band (https://thefufuchichichoir.com/).
